The Coronavirus Crisis hits some of the most important Beauty Exhibitions that now will not be taking place according to schedule.
This time it’s Germany, where Messe Düsseldorf is postponing the trade fairs Top Hair and Beauty Düsseldorf. The two events were originally scheduled for March 6th-8th – will be held from 18th to 20th Septemper, 2020.
Messe Düsseldorf has explained that they want to better understand the situation by communicating with their business partners and exhibitors. On their website, in the FAQ section, the public can find answers to the most pressing questions that exhibitors and visitors might have as a result of this unprecedented situation.
We read on their website that:
Messe Düsseldorf GmbH has promptly decided alternative dates in order to ensure that they can realistically proceed with the necessary planning. In doing so, Messe Düsseldorf is following the recommendation of the German Government’s crisis management team, taking into account the principles of the Robert Koch Institute when making a risk assessment of major events. On the basis of this recommendation and the recent significant increase in the number of infected persons both globally and in Europe, Messe Düsseldorf has reassessed the situation. Added to this is the uncertainty and complications surrounding the travel plans of the many international exhibitors and visitors who would have attended this month.
Werner M. Dornscheidt, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH: “Our customers, partners and employees trust us, not only when it comes to the professional and successful handling of major international events in Düsseldorf,” commented Werner M. Dornscheidt, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. ”They can also have this trust in us when we make decisions about critical situations in the interests of their safety”.
“This decision was not an easy one anyone concerned,” added Thomas Geisel, Lord Mayor of the City of Düsseldorf and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. “But the postponements at the present time are necessary for Messe Düsseldorf and its customers in view of the increasingly dynamic developments.”

Unprecedented times
The coronavirus is generating a great social alarm following the sudden outbreak in many regions of Asia, Europe and America.
In the last few days we have seen the epidemic spending quite fast in Central Europe. In Germany and Switzerland, where many exhibitions have been cancelled of every kind of industry. Messe Düsseldorf, for example, has cancelled also ProWein, wine event planned for March 15 to 17, postponed with no date yet.
Beauty Exhibitions Uneasy
The most popular fairs in the beauty sector are rescheduling: Cosmoprof Bologna officially announced their decision to postpone the event, which was to take place from March 12 to 16, to the month of June 11-16.
Beauty Fairs in Asia have also been postponed
Beauty Asia Singapore(originally scheduled for February 24-26)
has been rescheduled to AUG 4-6. www.beautyasia.com.sg
CIBE China International Exhibition Fair Beijing edition (originally Scheduled for February 25-27) has been postponed to July 29-31, according to the fair official website. www.beijingbeautyexpo.com/bj/
We must not forget that Bologna has always been one of the most significant fairs for exhibitors and visitors, not only to make contacts, but to present their innovations to an audience of very intested professionals. Top Hair Düsseldforf is also a fundamental benchmark for the whole beauty industry, which is now obliged to change its plans with significant consequences for those at an operational level.
The rescheduling of the most important fairs is an atypical situation in our Industry. This fairs have been held for many years on the same dates and this change is leading to a reorganisation of the business strategy in the short term.
Some brands are already struggling to inform their customers and keep in touch with their markets. They are already using applications like, WhatsApp, Skype or even Webinars for communication with their distributors worldwide. The beauty industry is looking for effective online services able to support their communications needs in these troubled times.
